Time Management (The Brian Tracy Success Library)

Brian Tracy

YOUR AB IL ITY TO manage your time, as much as any other
practice in your career as an executive, will determine your
success or failure. Time is the one indispensable and irreplaceable resource of accomplishment. It is your most precious asset. It cannot be saved, nor can it be recovered once
lost. Everything you have to do requires time, and the better
you use your time, the more you will accomplish, and the
greater will be your rewards.

Timbuktu

Paul Auster

MR. BONES KNEW THAT WILLY WASN’T long for this world. The cough
had been inside him for over six months, and by now there wasn’t a chance in hell
that he would ever get rid of it. Slowly and inexorably, without once taking a turn
for the better, the thing had assumed a life of its own, advancing from a faint,
phlegm-filled rattle in the lungs on February third to the wheezy sputum-jigs and
gobby convulsions of high summer. All that was bad enough, but in the past two
weeks a new tonality had crept into the bronchial music—something tight and flinty
and percussive—and the attacks came so often now as to be almost constant. Every
time one of them started, Mr. Bones half expected Willy’s body to explode from the
rockets of pressure bursting against his rib cage.

THUS SPOKE ZARATHUSTRA

by Friedrich Nietzsche (Author), Walter Kaufmann (Translator)

Prologue: Zarathustra speaks of the death of God and proclaims the overman. Faith in God is dead as a matter of
cultural fact, and any “meaning” of life in the sense of a
supernatural purpose is gone. Now it is up to man to
give his life meaning by raising himself above the animals
and the all-too-human. What else is human nature but a
euphemism for inertia, cultural conditioning, and what we
are before we make something of ourselves? Our socalled human nature is precisely what we should do well
to overcome; and the man who has overcome it Zarathustra
calls the overman.

The Wild Duck

by Henrik Ibsen (Author)

At WERLE’S house. A richly and comfortably furnished study; bookcases and upholstered furniture; a
writing−table, with papers and documents, in the centre of the room; lighted lamps with green shades, giving a
subdued light. At the back, open folding−doors with curtains drawn back. Within is seen a large and handsome
room, brilliantly lighted with lamps and branching candle−sticks. In front, on the right (in the study), a small
baize door leads into WERLE’S Office. On the left, in front, a fireplace with a glowing coal fire, and farther back
a double door leading into the dining−room.

The Uncensored Picture of Dorian Gray

Oscar Wilde

Oscar Wilde’s typescript of his only novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray,
remained unpublished until 2011, when it appeared under the title The
Picture of Dorian Gray: An Annotated, Uncensored Edition as part of
Harvard University Press’s annotated series of classic literary works. Like
The Picture of Dorian Gray: An Annotated, Uncensored Edition, this
paperback edition is based on the typescript submitted by Wilde to
Lippincott’s Monthly Magazine in 1890, whereupon an alarmed J. M.
Stoddart, the magazine’s editor, quickly determined the novel, at least in its
present form, would offend the sensibilities of his readership.

The Uncaged Sky: My 804 Days in an Iranian Prison

Kylie Moore-Gilbert

I STARE AT THE wall inches in front of my face. Someone has
scrawled something on it in ballpoint. e air-conditioning unit
whirs noisily above my head and I shiver despite my layers of
clothing. Over my shoulder, a man is making a speech in Farsi;
there is aggression in his voice. He seems to be addressing me,
although I have no idea what he is saying. I hear the muttering of
other men, the creaking of chairs, heavy breathing. e man is
shouting now, but the beat of my own heart is so loud that all his
words are drowned out.

The Travelling Cat Chronicles

HIRO ARIKAWA

I AM A cat. As yet, I have no name. There’s a famous cat in our country who once
made this very statement.
I have no clue how great that cat was, but at least when it comes to having a
name I got there first. Whether I like my name is another matter, since it
glaringly doesn’t fit my gender, me being male and all. I was given it about five
years ago – around the time I came of age.
