This is the fifth edition of the BSAVA Manual of Canine and Feline Endocrinology. It is over 10 years since the last edition was published and the advances in our knowledge of endocrine diseases continue unabated. As with so many projects, the COVID-19 pandemic intervened and delayed our progress to completion. Even during the final production of the Manual, new discoveries were made and, while we may have limited in-depth knowledge of some of them, we were able to introduce their inherent concepts – who would have thought of an oral drug enhancing renal excretion of glucose for diabetic cats or the possibility of a once-weekly insulin injection for dogs?
