After Hegel
The second half of the nineteenth century in Germany was one of the most creative and revolutionary periods of modern philosophy.
It has been, however, little studied in German, even less in English. The aim of this book is to introduce the Anglophone reader to the philosophy of this period. To ensure wide historical coverage, and to maintain a philosophical focus, the book is organized according to controversies rather than themes or thinkers.
There is no pretension to completeness in this work. I claim only to have introduced the Anglophone reader to five major controversies of the period. In discussing any one of these controversies much more could have been said; but for reasons of space I had to be selective about which material is most important and
interesting. There were other major controversies in the period; but even an adequate treatment of their main episodes would have gone beyond either my word limit or my time frame. A proper discussion of “the crisis of historicism,” or the debate between logicism and psychologism, would have taken me well into the twentieth century.

Biomechanics and Esthetic Strategies compressed
Within the past two decades, interest in esthetics from orthodontists, medical professionals, and the general population has increased dramatically and continues to rise.
While esthetics can be very subjective and variable between different ethnicities, specific characteristics of attractive people can be defined. These characteristics should be considered during diagnosis, treatment planning, and design of mechanics to correct dentofacial malocclusions.
For the first time, an orthodontic textbook combines two very important aspects of orthodontic treatment: esthetics and biomechanics. Biomechanics is the most important aspect of the design of an orthodontic appliance, and this book highlights how the esthetic objectives of orthodontic treatment can be successfully achieved with biomechanically based orthodontic appliances. This book describes the design of simple appliances which can be easily incorporated in any prevailing orthodontic technique and philosophy

act like a lady think like a man
I’ve made a living for more than twenty years making people laugh—about themselves, about each other, about family, and friends, and, most certainly, about love, sex, and relationships.
My humor is always rooted in truth and full of wisdom— the kind that comes from living, watching, learning, and knowing. I’m told my jokes strike chords with people because they can relate to them, especially the ones that explore the dynamics of relationships between men and women. It never ceases to amaze me how much people talk about relationships, think about them, read about them, ask about them— even get in them without a clue how to move them forward.

Studies in Continental Thought
This book is a translation of Platon: Sophistes, which was published in 1992 as volume 19 of Heidegger's Gesamtausgabe (Collected Works). The text is a reconstruction of the author's lecture course delivered under the same title at the University of Marburg in the winter semester 1924-25. The course was devoted to an interpretation of both Plato, especially his late dialogue, the Sophist, and Aristotle, especially Book VI of the Nicomachean Ethics. It is one of Heidegger's major works, because of its intrinsic importance as an interpretation of ancient philosophy and also on account of its relation to Being and Time.

War Peace and International Security Jan Eichler
The ambition of this book is to fill a gap on the market with literature about war and peace during the one-hundred-year-long period between the beginning of World War I and the annexation of the Crimean peninsula. The book has been written with the aim to present this period in a new and consistent theoretical framework. To satisfy this aim, it was necessary to make a detailed study of a long range of theoreticians whose works and key ideas were used as good sources of inspiration. Among them, there are two giants with an enormous intellectual potential: Johan Galtung and Raymond Aron. The book is divided into five chapters. The first of them is dedicated to the articulation of the theoretical and methodological positions of the entire book. Its first part presents key theoretical inspirations. It commences with Johan Galtung and his theory of positive and negative peace, continues with Raymond Aron’s emphasis on diplomacy and strategy and concludes with Edward Carr and his distinctions between rational causes and historical accidental. His inspiration has been used for the periodization throughout this book.

Chocolates and Confections Formula
The history of American confections follows a route parallel to that of many other traditional foods: born of artisans, adopted by regional producers, and captured by manufacturers. With each step in this process, the products tend to lose a little bit of their identity, becoming less unique, less diverse, more anonymous, and further removed from their artisan and geographic roots. Up until the early twentieth century, artisan foods were made by skilled craftspeople in small family-owned businesses in every town and village, with the trade handed down from generation to generation or learned through apprenticeship. Bread bakers, brewers, cheese makers, and, of course, confectioners produced relatively small quantities of fresh, unique products for their customers, who were also their neighbors. This is the tradition of artisan confectionery. Improvements in automation and transportation led to the rise of regional confectioners who prepared unique specialties in larger quantities with the aid of machinery and who distributed their products throughout a larger area than local artisan confectioners could supply. However, these regional confectioners still made candy that was traditional to the location and distributed it within that area, thereby contributing to the food culture of the region. Some examples of these products are pralines in the southern United States, sponge candy in western New York State, fudge throughout the Midwest, taffy at the seashore, buckeyes in Ohio, and maple candies in New England.
